A tree tub is a common phenomenon in public green spaces these last years. It is also used very often in office gardens. And a tree tub is suitable as a temporary decoration of public green spaces. Events for example, with the large benefit of being easily transferred. Tree tubs enrichen the livability of the area. They offer a solution for spaces that lack green. As Covergreen®, we do not deliver tree tubs or trees, but we do deliver ground covers as fully grown plant mats. Our ground covers / plant mats are really suitable for covering the soil in a tree tub. We will tell you more about this on this page.
Using plant mats on a tree tub has several benefits: off course it is important that you realize an instant green result. Also given the fact that a fully built up tree tub can be complex and cost-intensive.
On such a tree tub a well-placed finish is in place. Plant mats cover all soil around the tree immediately. This covering also keeps weed from germinating inside the tree tub. In addition a dense planting also offers protection against vaporizing of the moist by sunlight. Most tree tubs are provided with isolation material, to protect the soil and roots of the tree against extreme weather circumstances, such as heat and frost. A tree base covered with plants also protects the upper side of the tub against drying out or freezing of the tree tub.
If you choose tree tubs, you have to make choices as a client. You do so together with the green contractor with an expertise in making tree tubs. Together with your green contractor you choose the outside material of the tree tub. The most import choice is, of course, your tree. Together with the breeder of the tree, your green contractor can build the correct layering of the tree tub, with irrigation (watering), drainage (draining water) and substrate (filling the soil). A correct tree tub is isolated. This will protect the trees roots against summer heat and frost. Only when all this is finished, it is our turn as Covergreen®.
You can cover the top layer of the tree tub, the tree base, with our plant mats. Our ground covers offer an instant colorful and finished result. The ground covers as a plant mat cover all soil inside the tree tub immediately. This prevents the soil against sunlight and keeps weed from germinating.

You can make a statement with the used materials for your tree tub. The material can, like the plants, be adjusted to the chosen style in the streets of your district, or the roof terrace of your office building. Common used materials are metal, wood, polyester, concrete and natural stone. The Corten steel tree tubs and flower boxes are really popular the last years.
A popular material for tree tubs is Corten steel. It is also known under its brand name COR-TEN steel, an alloy steel which will corrode on the outside. It may sounds strange, but this top layer closes of the material for oxygen and therefor won’t corrode any further underneath the top layer. Be aware of the fact that Corten Steel can make stains on your paving.
